It was bad enough when Wal-Mart put the mom-and-pop companies out of business. Now they’re coming for you.
Wal-Mart is teaming with Dell and eClinical Works to provide turnkey electronic medical records for small medical practices. Looking for a slice of the $19 billion package for EMRs, Wal-Mart will provide hardware, software, maintenance and training.
While that’s not what you’re into, it doesn’t take much of a leap for Wal-Mart to crossover to medical billing. We’ll see.
The New York Times says only 17 percent of physicians use EMRs.
