The Canadian federal government increased another $500 million in funding electronic medical redords. The latest increase more than doubled its 2007 budget and raised Canada’s funding to $2.1 billion overall.
Health Minister Leona Aglukkaq said EMRs will reduce wait times, eliminate duplicate or unnecessary tests, reduce medication errors and automatically alert healthcare providers of needed tests and vaccinations.
