Strength in numbers

A small medical billing company owner was moaning over not making as much money as he wanted. He was having trouble expanding so it seemed he was where he was.

What other services are you offering, we asked, besides billing?

Hello, are you there? The line was silent for a moment before the business owner said what other kinds were there? He was handling the billing.

Dios mio. What other kinds? How about practice management, third party collections, patient well-care and remote backup services for starters.

Maybe the path to growth isn’t increased number of clients, but increasing business with existing clients. Let’s discuss how ClaimTek Systems can help you grow you ability to work with your clients.

Your marketing materials must work

Karen couldn’t understand why letters to doctors requesting a chance to show her medical billing abilities received no response.

We took a look. Uh, they were so poorly written that health care providers, who are college graduates, didn’t take her seriously. Even one misspelled word can turn off someone with a graduate school degree.

So we made some changes. Hooked her up with the right materials written by professionals that have worked time and time again. Suddenly, Karen was meeting with clients.

The quick moral – as you would no more try to do electrical or plumbing work on the house, leave marketing to professionals. It’s often what you don’t know that undermines your efforts. With ClaimTek Systems’ proven help, your business can increase.

How much is that doggy in the window?

Well, actually, how much to start a business is the real question here.

We saw a list in USA Today of franchises. Some made us laugh. Some made us gasp.

A Sears garage door business cost $50,000 cash for the franchise. 50G just to say you’re with the big company. Certainly a very large and respected company, but that’s a lot of doors just to break even.

The Kiddie Academy wants $150,000. The Cartridge Depot says 80 large. Salad Works requires $180,000. That’s a lot of cabbage.

Ace Hardware wants $250,000 buy-in. 7-Eleven is $70,000. Even Junk King wants $60,000!

And in that list, you’ll see ClaimTek Systems starting at $5,995. To start medical billing with the best software in the business. With personal trainers. And marketing assistance.

Hey boss, we need to raise our prices. If Junk King can ask $60,000, we can . . . oh wait, the boss is staring at me with lasers for eyes. Thought my skull was going to explode there for a moment.

OK, shop around for prices. USA Today is certainly a respected independent voice. Then contact us here at ClaimTek Systems at 1-800- 224-7450.

The EHR difference, and why we have it

The Huffington Post tells a a toe of woe. One worth repeating because it cost a nine-physician Florida practice more than $400,000 to learn it.

Robert Cameron told the website his practice bought an electronic medical records system from Acermed, a California company. The EMR didn’t work well; in fact so badly the company was sued repeatedly until forced to declare bankruptcy. Cameron labeled the whole thing “a disaster.”

A disaster – not exactly what the federal government wanted seeking to convert the entire health industry into digital records in coming years.

“I’ve seen physicians buy EHRs where they’ve spent less time buying them than their house and car,” said Margret Amatayakul, a health care technology consultant.

ClaimTek Systems has the antidote. Our HER software works, and works well. Understand that health care providers should be wary when buying the system. That’s why knowing the system inside and out is not only the best defense, but the best selling tool.

Expanding your business from billing to full service means the difference between making a comfortable living and running one with employees and living in the big house on the hill.

Call us at 1-800-224-7450. Let’s discuss how information technology is the key to complete financial independence and a loyal client base.

Meanwhile, read the Huffington Post report detailing how many supposedly good technology companies didn’t make it.

Are you ready for smart phones?

There’s an amazing opportunity for your website to be ranked higher on Google. It seems web browsers for smart phones have trouble with sites that haven’t been optimized. Those using flash-based content on landing pages aren’t usable on smart phones like Apple’s I-phone.

What’s the big deal? Mobile web use is increasing – by 34 percent from July 2008-09. They are gaining increasing use over computers. You don’t want to be frozen out. Indeed, Google uses a separate search index for mobile content and it’s empty compared to the web index. You could rank very high in mobile content right now.

How can you do it? Check out this article.

Small website changes that work

We wonder why the obvious sometimes escapes us. If you have a website, and especially a blog, watch this short video that increases web traffic. We implemented the changes ourselves.

Spring fever? You can beat it

Read this blog enough and you’ll know we hate the winter despite living in a moderate climate. Can’t imagine living somewhere that snow is on the ground for three straight months.

But unless you living in the Deep South or Southwest, January makes you shiver with every paper you deliver (’60s reference from Miss American Pie). You want to get out, have some fun.

Two words — trade shows. You’d be amazed how many trade shows are in January-February. It must be the indoor alternative to partying. They figure you can’t go outside and have fun so wander through booths of businesses. Yippee.

But, we’re being snarky. Here’s what we do. Take your business card and pick a trade show where you can network. You don’t need to buy a booth. Just go through the vendors, say hello and give out your card. You may find business or at least increase your networking.

Seeing is believing for software

We hear from many people interested in joining the field of medical claims. Maybe they have a friend who’s doing very well with their own company. Perhaps they’ve seen the small business magazines touting medical claims processing as a viable startup company.

But, we hear the skeptical tone in their voice. They’ve talked with other companies and felt the hard sell. They expect it from us.

Hey, calm down. Let’s talk. One thing we’ve learned over the years at ClaimTek Systems is our product sells itself. We don’t need the hardsell.

And we’re not repeating it here. Instead, we simply invite you to check out the demo at ClaimTek Systems free demo.

Kick the tires. Beep the horn. Pop the hood. This little baby is so simple to use anyone can work it. And when you’re ready to talk, we’re here at 1-800-224-7450.

So back to work we go

It’s January. Holidays are now long over. Tax forms are coming your way from clients. Weather stinks outside for many of us. Bills from Christmas are rolling in.

There’s nothing to do but work. Groan.

Actually, January is a great month for planning. Given weather largely keeps us indoors, we tend to be most productive without distractions.

So what can you do this month to create success for the year ahead? Setting goals really works.

We’re big on making lists because it focuses us on success. So, let’s make 3 goals for this year.

1. Learn new technology. (Sorry, dental work is No. 4). Yes, the IT world marches on. You take a breath, you fall behind. The good news is the more technology you learn, the more it increases your production. So call us at ClaimTek Systems to discuss how your company can upgrade and become more productive.

How are health care providers changing billing?

Medical Economics.com has a great story on how billing practices are changing with doctors. It used to be the last thing doctors brought up with patients, and now it’s the first said one health care provider.

Obviously, doctors are worrying the recession is cutting back on patients and thus cutting back on cash flow. They’re starting more direct billing, using credit cards and trying to figure out how to stay profitable.

So our question to you is are you doing enough to meet your clients’ needs? Are you winning the race against technology? What more could you do in the final days of 2009 to make 2010 more successful? ClaimTek Systems has the answers. Give us a call to see how we can enhance your billing options at 1-800-224-7450.

How much should be billed?

Physicians Practice.com has a great chart on what people are charging.

What’s that to you? Many medical claims billers work on a percentage basis so if your health care professionals are underbilling, so are you. Help them out. Help yourself out. Check out the chart.

Merry Christmas from ClaimTek Systems

Don’t forget your clients at holiday time

I remember seeing Michael Jackson once on a shopping tour spending millions of dollars yet still haggling over prices. He said everyone likes a bargain.

OK, as we hit Christmas Eve let me take that lesson to everyone likes to feel special. Doesn’t matter if they’re a hotshot surgeon or administrative assistants, everyone likes something special thrown their way.

Now the one problem at Christmas time is every rep around throws food at the offices. It kinda gets lost in the fruitcakes, if you know what I mean. So, to make it a better investment of your time and money, wait until the morning of New Year’s Eve and drop off your gift. Make some wine and glasses or a lunch spread. Chances are they’re leaving early and appreciate something new to chew on at lunch after last week’s goodies are gone or stale.

Now go enjoy your Christmas.
